I wanted to start with a fairly old, but kind of neat, item. I bought this some time ago (think several years)
and at the time thought it was THE best. Not so much anymore, but I’ll get into that a little later in this article.
What I wanted when I purchased it was rather simple. I wanted
- An easy way to charge my phone
- When it is charging I wanted to be able to see the phone
- I didn’t want it slipping
- I wanted to be able to charge it either in landscape or portrait mode
- I, as always, wanted something that would look nice
I found this Qi compatible charger and it boasted three charging coils, both for faster charging (not) and so it could charge the phone in any position (yes). This was a great boon as far as I was concerned. I hated the need to have to lay my phone flat and plug it in in order to charge it. This solved both those concerns. And it worked, for a while. After about a year, which was too short a time, it started doing something REALLY annoying. The phone would be peacefully sitting on the stand charging, when I would hear a beep, which I came to realize was the indicator that charging had paused. This would happen several times every minute. While I pondered my options I turned the sound on the phone off, and missed several calls.
To fix the problem, I bought another wireless charger. More on that next blog…
