The tech gadgets I can afford

Two Devices are better than one

I wrote an article a while back about why I carry two different devices, a personal Android phone and a business iPhone).  This is how it evolved.  I was presented with the opportunity to get a business phone, mainly because my institution had a policy against paying a portion of users’ personal cell phone bills.  When this happened I had to make the choice between getting another android based phone or an iphone.  Since I am in a job where  I try my best to help others with their problems, and many of them have iOS devices, I decided to go with the iPhone.

So now I was carrying around both my android phone, currently a Samsung Galaxy S8, and an iPhone 5.  This allowed me to learn more about how iOS worked and made me more able to help those with iOS devices (whether they were iPhones, iPads or something else).  I am still much less familiar with MACOS.  I did use a MAC centris computer as my primary computer when a Centris 650 was the latest thing on the block, but that was a loooooooong time ago.  I also have a little bit of Linux/Unix know how.  When I first started this job I was working on a Unix machine (solaris), and have since used nearly every flavor of linux around.  I recently had a Kali linux machine running in my office, until that finally gave up the ghost.
