A New External Battery for my Phone

I have gone through a number of batteries for my phone, always looking for either something better or something that works (preferably both).  When I moved from my Samsung Note 5 to a Samsung Galaxy S8, I needed something that would provide USB-C connectivity instead of the standard micro-USB connector.  Although the S8 comes with a converter, it isn’t quite the same.  I loved my old battery, but that would no longer work.

I switched to a newer battery that had a USB-C connector built in.  This was a great find.  Eventually this battery started to have problems.  There are three LED indicators (for battery strength and charging) on the device and the middle one stopped working.  Since this was only a 4000mAh battery, I figured it was not a great loss.  I started looking around for a battery that could charge my phone wirelessly, and found a great one on Amazon.  I considered this carefully and then after some inner turmoil, because there was a really small battery that didn’t charge wirelessly, but was small (palm of the hand small), I finally decided to go ahead with the wireless battery.

I got the battery, which is a 20000mAh battery, and was a little dismayed at its size, it was bigger than I thought it would be.  Nevertheless, it seemed good in every other way.  I hit the first bump when I found that although the USB ports (there are three) output 2.4A, the wireless charging outputs just a little over 1A – so a slow charge if you go only wireless.  I was most dismayed because the text on Amazon reads “Wireless Charger and Power Bank Design:Wireless Charging Support all QI-enabled phones for inductive charging at ultimately astonished speed! Truly cable-free utility,tangle-free operation.Wired Charging Support all Smartphones and other Smart Devices.” (highlighting is mine)

The next bump was that it was not as easy as I thought it would be to position the phone in such a way so that it would charge wirelessly.  I kind of knew this before I got it, but was disappointed anyway.  I could have dealt with just this problem, but with the added problem that it is a slow wireless charge, I will attempt to return this purchase.

Update:10/30/18

I successfully returned the previous battery (thank you Amazon).  I now have this battery (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B8J6N2L/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1}.  The new one is not as powerful, 10000mAh instead of 26000mAh, and does not do wireless charging.  I thought is was a better choice anyway, with 3 built-in cables (I can now charge my wife’s phone as well).
