The tech gadgets I can afford

Tile – find your stuff

Many years ago I purchased a four pack of location tags for keys and such. I dutifully attached these to various keyrings that could be lost. I regularly tested them in case the battery ran low. I never had to replace the batteries. And then I got a little complacent. I stopped testing as frequently as I did before (it was once a month, then once every two months, then once in a while). Then what I was trying to prevent happened. My wife misplaced her keys, I went to the master “switch” and tried to beep them – nothing. I tried to beep my own – nothing. The batteries had run down and there was no GPS.

Needless to say, she has yet to find her keys, we replaced them instead. I decided to do a little more prevention. I purchased a four pack of the Tile device.

These are really nice devices. They were easy to set up. One nice aspect is the GPS location history, so you can see where your devices are and have been.

This was a little like closing the barn door after the cow is gone, but it was something.
